What are some common side effects of azelastine?

Azelastine commonly causes a bitter taste in the mouth which can be unpleasant for some users. Azelastine may be mildly sedating. You should exercise caution when taking azelastine and keep in mind that mental alertness may be decreased, which can impact the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Azelastine may cause nosebleeds. If this is occurring, please stop using the medication and see a healthcare provider in person. In the meantime, you can use nasal saline spray (not irrigation) followed by vaseline to help minimize the nosebleeds and heal the traumatized nasal lining.

This list is not exhaustive, and you should reach out to your provider to discuss any concerns.
