Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are rare in people taking valacyclovir. Anaphylaxis is marked by the rapid development of flushy, itchy skin rash, swelling of the lips, face, neck, and throat causing difficulty in breathing (angioedema), and a fall in blood pressure that can lead to collapse. If any of these occur, get emergency treatment immediately. Do not use valacyclovir if you have a sensitivity or are allergic to any of the following medications: acyclovir, famciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, or valganciclovir.
