Some patients experience heartburn with one type of PDE5i (such as a sildenafil or tadalafil) and not with another. Simply switching PDE5i types can eliminate the problem.
Heartburn caused by PDE5i can also be treated with over the counter medications such as antacids and H2 receptor antagonists (such as Pepcid and Zantac).
If heartburn continues despite these measures, you should stop taking the PDE5i and see your primary care physician.
