What is the difference between Generic Viagra and Branded Viagra?
Viagra is the brand name of drug called Sildenafil. It is referred to as Viagra when it comes in 25, 50, and 100mg.
When Sildenafil is produced in 20mg tablets, the brand name is called Revatio, which is approved to treat pulmonary hypertension.
Generic Viagra (25, 50, 100mg) and Generic Sildenafil (20mg) both contain the same active ingredient, Sildenafil.
In order for a manufacturer to produce a generic version of a branded drug, they need to prove "bioequivalence".
If two products are said to be bioequivalent it means that they would be expected to be, for all intents and purposes, the same.
