Drug Use: Are there any recreational drugs I should worry about mixing with ED medications?

There are a few recreational drugs that should not be mixed with ED medications.

1️⃣ Poppers, amyl nitrite, and amyl nitrate

These drugs that are often used to enhance the sexula experience should never be used together with PDE 5 inhibitors like Viagra, Cilais, levitra, or sildenafil. Together they can cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure, which can cause death.

2️⃣ Cocaine

It is strongly recommended that you avoid mixing cocaine and PDE 5 inhibitors. Cocaine can cause dramatic increases in blood pressure and acutely increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and bleeding in the brain. Viagra may increase the risk of bleeding as it works by dilating blood vessels.

3️⃣ Marijuana and cannabidiol (CBD)

Marijuana and CBD both decrease blood pressure and also inhibit the breakdown of ED medications. This increases the blood levels of ED medications. Together, these effects can cause drops in blood pressure that can be unsafe.
