Dealing with Heartburn

Heartburn is a common side effect of PDE 5 inhibitors. It’s important to make sure that this doesn’t constitute chest pain from a more serious cause so you should speak to a physician about this if it occurs and you aren’t sure.

1️⃣ Lowest effective dose

Always make sure you are taking the lowest effective dose of the medication. You may get heartburn when you take 100mg of Viagra but not when you take 50mg while still getting the full effect of the medicine.

2️⃣ OTC Antacids

You can always take over the counter (OTC) antacids like Tums or Pepto Bismol at the time you take the medication, which helps some men with heartburn from the medication.

3️⃣ Empty Stomach

Also, it might help not to eat before taking the medication so that your stomach is less full and reflux is less likely.
